Benylin Chesty Coughs Non-Drowsy is a medicine designed to treat chesty coughs.
How Benylin Chesty Coughs Non-Drowsy works
Benylin Chesty Coughs Non-Drowsy contains two active ingredients: guaifenesin and levomenthol.
Guaifenesin is an expectorant. It helps to loosen mucus from the lungs, making it easier to cough up.
Levomenthol helps you to breathe more easily by easing congestion.
Directions
Always take Benylin Chesty Coughs Non-Drowsy exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / our pharmacist has told you.
Take 2 x 5ml teaspoons 4 times a day.
Do not take more than 4 doses in 24 hours.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Benylin Chesty Cough Non-Drowsy may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
- Nausea and vomiting
- Stomach pain
- Diarrhoea
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Benylin Chesty Coughs Non-Drowsy may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Talk to your doctor or our pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
- You suffer from kidney or liver problems
- You have had a cough for a few weeks that may be caused by asthma, or a cough that brings up a lot of mucus
- If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any other medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or our pharmacist before taking this product.
Age restrictions
This product is not suitable for children under 12 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or our pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
Driving and operating machinery
This product does not alter your ability to drive or operate machinery.
Storage information
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
