How Calpol SixPlus FastMelts Tablets work
Calpol SixPlus FastMelts Tablets contain paracetamol.
Paracetamol works by blocking the chemical messengers in the brain that tell you when you have pain. It also helps your body to keep your temperature under control.
Directions
Always take Calpol SixPlus FastMelts Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Children between 6-9 years old: 1 tablet up to 4 times a day.
Children between 9-12 years old: 2 tablets up to 4 times a day.
Children between 12-16 years old: 2-3 tablets up to 4 times a day.
Children over 16 years old and adults: 2-4 tablets up to 4 times a day.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Calpol SixPlus FastMelts Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. There are no known reported common side effects of this product.

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
If you notice any of the following side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately:
- Becoming unusually tired
- Unexplained bruising or bleeding
- Getting more infections (such as colds) than usual
- Severe skin reactions e.g. skin reddening, blisters or rashes
Warnings
Calpol SixPlus FastMelts Tablets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not give this product to your child or take it yourself if either of you is allergic to any of the ingredients or has phenylketonuria.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine or giving it to your child if either of you has severe kidney or liver problems.
Using/taking other medicines
If you or your child is taking or has recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product.
You must tell your healthcare provider if you or your child are taking the following medication:
- Metoclopramide or domperidone (used to treat nausea and vomiting)
- Cholestyramine (used to treat high cholesterol)
- Anticoagulants, which are used to thin the blood e.g. warfarin
- Anticonvulsants, which are used to treat epilepsy
Age restrictions
This product is unsuitable for children under 6 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If necessary, this product can be taken during pregnancy. You should use the lowest possible dose that reduces your pain and/or fever and use it for the shortest time possible. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
Alcohol
If you drink large amounts of alcohol, you must talk to your doctor before taking this medicine. You may be more susceptible to the side effects of paracetamol.
Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
